BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OFFERS WRITER’S WORKSHOP TO STUDENTS AT HYDE SCHOOL: On Sunday, October 30, 11-time best-selling author Douglas Preston worked with students on Hyde’s Bath campus in an intensive writing workshop. The class will continue through April for motivated juniors and seniors interested in submitting their work for publication and completing a major work of poetry, screenplay, novel, novella, play, or memoir. INCREDIBLE GENEROSITY: GIVING TO HYDE: “We’re all in this together.” Congratulations to Hyde’s Bath and Woodstock Faculty and Staff for reaching 100% participation in time for Fall Family Weekend! Perhaps inspired by our faculty and staff, Hyde’s families in Woodstock, CT gave to the Annual Fund at 98%, and 100% of families in Bath, Maine made gifts to Hyde. HYDE LEADERSHIP SOCIETY HOSTS SPEAKER ON CHARACTER’S ROLE IN BUSINESS: As part of its ongoing speaker series for students participating in the Hyde Leadership Society, Hyde-Bath hosted Richard Preece, Senior Vice President at Franklin Templeton Investments. Preece’s presentation, “How Leadership Characteristics Are Valued In Business” was webcast to the community. Students learned about how Hyde’s Five Principles are essential to success in any field. HYDE FOUNDATION NEWS: At Hyde Schools we are often heard saying, “Parents are the primary teachers and the home is the primary classroom.” The October Parent Discovery Nights at Hyde-Bronx and Hyde-Brooklyn engaged parents in sessions to help them be more confident in their role as their child’s teacher at home.
